Changing the Rules of Theme Park: Converging Real and Virtual Theme park
COVID-19 is significantly impacting and disrupting leisure and hospitality industries including theme park with long lasting and transformation effects. During the slow down of COVID-19, industry and academic have changed to ensure theme park business continuity. Theme park industry is affected by various external factors such as socio-cultural, environmental and economic. As COVID-19 has intensified their causes and impacts on theme park, discussion on the pre-existing issues are growing.
The pandemic and its conversion to a global economic and social crisis can be seen as a transformative stressor that is accelerating change and driving the re-shape of a better theme park future. Transformation is envisioned and seen everywhere from the various theme park related industries including engineering, humanities, technology, business and psychology, from an international to a regional and local scale; and across theme park related stakeholders (i.e., government, business and entrepreneurs, communities, organizations, tourists and academia).
The ITAP 2021 conference aims to advance current debate regarding transformations and future direction in the theme park. To that end, the conference brings together theme park scholars, professionals, policymakers and entrepreneurs alike in order to stimulate discussions and the exchange of research findings and ideas addressing the conference theme Changing the Rules of Theme park: Converging Real and Virtual Theme park.
Conference Research Tracks
The ITAP 2021 Committee welcomes abstract, full research papers and working research papers on several different topics relating to 2nd ITAPS conference’s theme Changing the Rules of Theme park: Converging Real and Virtual theme park. Given the diversity and multi-dimensional nature of transformation in our industries, papers can focus on a broad range of topics relating to (but not limited to) a range of conference research tracks.

- Geography for visitors flow and experience
- Safety issues and Law
- Risk, Crisis and Recovery from external and internal matters
- Architecture development and conveying a theme
- Marketing and Branding
- Service quality evaluation
You will be required to select and submit your manuscript under one track although the submission topic may relate to more than one track
Submission Guidelines & Procedures
All submissions must follow the guidelines outlined in the Author Paper Formatting Guidelines. Please download and use the Guidelines for your paper preparation.
Your paper should be identified clearly as an abstract, working paper or full research paper. If your paper is accepted, at least one author must register (recommend to register all), pay and attend the conference to present the paper.
Abstract/ Working Paper
Abstract and Working papers are those for which a substantial amount of the research work, or conceptual and theoretical development is completed. Working papers should be around 1,200 – 1,500 words including references, tables and figures. The paper will be blind peer-reviewed nominated by the ITAP Committee. All papers must be original submissions that have never been published.
Full research paper
Full research papers are those for which present conceptual and theoretical development that are completed. The paper should be around 4,000 words including references, tables and figures. The paper will be blind peer-reviewed nominated by the ITAP Committee. All papers must be original submissions that have never been published.
Submission guideline
Abstracts (Working papers), full research papers and any questions for the conference should be submitted by email to ITAPS (itaps@seould.edu). All accepted abstract and full research papers will be published in the conference proceeding.
Presenting your Paper at the Conference
Oral Presentations
Oral presentations will be allocated 15 minutes each including 5 minutes for questions. A chair will run each concurrent presentation sessions.
Poster Presentations
Visual presentations will be showed with A1 sized poster. Presenters will have an opportunity during the poster presentation sessions to discuss their work.
